Highlights Of A Summer Road Trip To Iceland

Long road trips with your friends and family!  You are either completely in love with them or completely ignore them. In any case, taking a road trip is among the most effective methods to see a significant portion of a nation in a concise length of time. And what better landscapes to visit are located around the roads of Iceland than the Blue Lagoon, the Seljalandsfoss waterfall, and the Golden Circle? We have provided some of the best island highlights if you are planning a summer road trip.

Driving back and forth from your static accommodation is time-consuming. An Iceland road trip shouldn't be hurried. Seven days is the consensus, although you may need longer.

Day 1: Geysir, Gullfoss, and Thingvellir National Parks are on your itinerary for the first day. You can start your week off well with this one-day short road trip! Thingvellir has a campground as well.

Day 2: Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss are magnificent waterfalls in Iceland that should not be missed, and they are also close enough to one another to make a day trip worthwhile. Hotels and dormitories of all price ranges may be found in the adjacent beach town of Vik.

If you're interested in seeing Iceland's stunning waterfalls up close, consider researching more.

Day 3: Begin the day at the world-famous black sand beach near Vik, Reynisfjara coast. The next step is to go to Skaftafell National Park, where you may go ice caving or trek to the Svartifoss waterfall. To end the day, go back to the beaches of the Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon and then choose a place to stay in Hofn; here, you will find a variety of hotels, guesthouses, and a hostel.

Day 4: Be on the lookout today for a treacherous terrain, including steep slopes, beaches with black sand, and many sheep and animals. Keep a sharp watch for herds that may suddenly decide to cross the road! It is common for people to go to the East Fjords to see the Northern Lights.

Day 5: Take a detour to Dettifoss, the largest waterfall in Europe, on the way to Myvatn.  The area around Myvatn is rich in geothermal features, including several volcanoes, springs, etc. Spend the latter part of the day in Akureyri, home to various lodging establishments.

Day 6: The best whale watching in Europe may be at Akureyri. After spending some time at sea searching for a blue whale, you should go back on land and make your way to the Snaefellsnes Peninsula.

Day 7: Take the time to discover all the Snaefellsnes peninsula offers throughout the day. Take your time and visit the stunning Kirkjufell Waterfall and its accompanying paths. Afterward, head back to Reykjavik, which should take around an hour.
